The Outside

Overview

The Outside, also known as The Nothing, is the infinite, boundless state of absolute non-existence that surrounds the finite bubble of the Cosmos. It is not a place, a dimension, or a void in the sense of empty space. It is the absence of the concept of “place” itself.

Within the Cosmos, “nothing” is a relative term (e.g., empty space, silence, darkness). In the Outside, “nothing” is absolute. There is no space, no time, no matter, no energy, no light, no sound, no thought, no concept, and no potential. It is the negation of everything that is.

The Cosmos is a bubble of Order floating in an ocean of Nothing. The Boundary is the only thing preventing the Nothing from consuming the Order. If the Boundary were to fail, the Cosmos would not be destroyed in an explosion; it would simply cease to be. It would be unmade, erased from all memory and reality, as if it never existed.

The Nature of The Nothing

Non-Properties

The Nothing cannot be described by positive attributes because it possesses none.

The Illusion of the Void

Travelers who approach the Boundary often report seeing a “black void” or “endless darkness.” This is a psychological projection of the mind trying to process the incomprehensible. The mind interprets the absence of data as “blackness” or “silence,” but in reality, there is no visual or auditory input to interpret. It is a total sensory and cognitive nullification.

The Pressure of Non-Existence

While the Nothing has no physical properties, it exerts a metaphysical pressure on the Boundary. The Order of the Cosmos is constantly being “pushed” by the Nothing, not by force, but by the sheer weight of non-existence trying to reclaim the space it occupies. This pressure is what necessitates the Boundary and the Primes‘ constant vigilance.

The Boundary

The Boundary is the thin, shimmering membrane that separates the Order of the Cosmos from the Nothing. It is not a wall of stone or energy; it is a conceptual firewall maintained by the collective will of the Primes and the fundamental laws of the Resonance Principle.

The Beyonders

Definition

Beyonders are entities that originate from other bubbles of Order (other cosmologies) that exist far beyond the Nothing. They are not part of this Cosmos.

Nature

Threat Level

Beyonders are the greatest threat to the Cosmos. They are not evil in the traditional sense; they are simply foreign. Their existence is incompatible with this Order. If a Beyonder breaches the Boundary, it can lead to a Cascade Failure, where the local reality unravels and is consumed by the Nothing.

Interaction

Origin Model

The Bubble Model

The most widely accepted theory among the Primes is that the Cosmos is one of infinite bubbles of Order floating in the Nothing. Each bubble is a separate universe with its own laws, history, and Primes. The Nothing is the space between them.

The Eternal Cosmos

The Cosmos is eternal and has always existed in some state. The Nothing is not a “place” and not the source from which the Cosmos was made; it is a state of non-being that the Cosmos simply is not. There was no creation from the Nothing. The Primes emerged by differentiating from the Cosmos’ Original Potential during the Great Unfolding.

The Great Filter

A more ominous theory suggests that the Nothing is not passive. It is a predatory force that consumes dead or failing cosmologies. The Boundary is a defense mechanism, and the Primes are the antibodies of the universe. If the Primes fail, the Cosmos will be consumed, and the Nothing will expand.

Role in the Cosmology

The Outside serves as the ultimate limit of existence.

Role in the Cosmology (Summary)

The Outside is the negation beyond existence against which the Cosmos defines itself. It is the silence that gives meaning to sound, the darkness that gives meaning to light, and the nothingness that gives meaning to existence. It is the ultimate reminder that existence is fragile, precious, and finite.
